Don’t let the beauty of fall destroy the beauty of your home

Fall is here in North Georgia. The colors are changing and the leaves are falling. Now is the time to pay special attention to your yards and gutters as fallen leaves can reek havoc on your yard and home. Grass is a living plant and needs sunlight and air to live. When fallen leaves are not removed from your lawn they cover your grass and block out sunlight and air so the grass is unable to breath. This can lead to turf diseases such as mold and root rot. The weight from leaf cover can also prevent your grass from growing not to mention it makes perfect conditions for insect infestations due to the moisture and shade.

While leaves are piling up in your yard they are also piling up in your gutters. Clogged gutters can cause major problems for your home if left untreated. Water can back up into the walls or be rerouted and come in through the roof which can lead to very expensive repair costs. Standing water in your gutters can also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and in the winter time when temperatures drop water or snow buildup can freeze into heavy blocks of ice which can cause your gutters to pull away from your home. So when leaves start piling up make sure to remove them as soon as possible to keep your home looking beautiful and avoid unnecessary repair costs.
